The Year in Reflection

There are times in our Rotary year when, as we look to the future minor panic can set in, and we wonder about not doing anything. That there is little or nothing in the short term planning! At this time it is worthwhile to reflect on where we have been over the last twelve months and as we do so a long list of achievements miraculously materialises.   • First Club in District to implement the Club Leadership Plan.

  • Support for Relay for Life.
  • Kids from Coonamble are hosted.
  • We are hosted by Coffs Harbour Daybreak Club, 9 Pin Bowling Challenge.
  • We are hosted by Nambucca Lions Club at Surf Club.
  • We are hosted by Valla Lions Club at Valla Lions Park.
  • We hosted Neville Parsons, District Membership Chairman.
  • Two second hand book sales under the belt.
  • We host our DG Ian Dyball & Margaret as we honour Bob Provost.
  • Driver Reviver keeps us awake at night.
  • Susanne Frey blesses us with her international goodwill.
  • Attending Inbound YEPPER briefing at Urala with Susanne.
  • The Christmas Wheelbarrow Raffle makes the winner a happy lady.
  • Bowel Scan floats to the surface.
  • RYLARIANS return with news of the week’s events.
  • Preparation of the Bowraville Phoenix Garden.
  • Renovations to the Early Childhood Intervention Centre.
  • Countless guest speakers entertain and inform us.
  • Hosting YEPPER inbound/outbound weekend.
  • Vocational visits inspire us.
  • Club visits to: Early Childhood Intervention Centre; Express Coaches; Mandarin Hotel; Nambucca Valley Community College; PriceLine Pharmacy
  • Greeting the Danish GSE team.
  • Attending District Assembly and District Conference.
  • Winning the District Bulletin Award.
  • Leaders of the District Attendance Report.
  • Attending District Membership Forum.
  • Reinventing our website.
  • Hosting interviews for New Zealand Matched Exchange
  • RYDA hits the dirt with wheels spinning.
  • RDYA Awards presentation night.
  • Three forums or perhaps four threeums?
  • Student to Siemens Science Forum, Brisbane & Armidale.
  • Rotarians speak about RYAG at all three high school assemblies.
  • Mock interviews.
  • Throw in a Third World Dinner.
  • And six Shelter Boxes - or was it six? I lost count.
  • Receipt of ShelterBox cheque at Scotts Heads Public School presentation night.
  • Support of Skate Park initiative.
  • Shelterbox to Coffs Harbour twice, Port Macquarie and Scotts Head Public School.
  • Cleaning up the Historic Cemetery, twice.
  • Student sponsorship to RYAG Marine Coffs Harbour Daybreak Club.
  • Took Susanne Frey to Tasmania together with a Coffs Harbour Daybreak YEPPER.
  • Support for Nambucca Valley Writers Group’s Trivia Night.
  • Baby kits to Vanuatu.
  • Held 11 Board meetings.
  • Battle of the Bands support.
  • President talks about Rotary on Nambucca Valley Radio Station.
  • Prospective member information afternoon tea.

These activities would outweigh some much larger Clubs’ undertakings and we can be proud of what we have managed to do with limited manpower and resources.Len Moss, President
